The Garden

In May, Mimi and Grumpa came for the day to help us build a raised bed and plant our very first vegetable garden. We were very excited. I love opportunities for me to learn from other people's experience and to better my way of life. Having a veggie garden is the epitome of that. Teagan wasn't quite so mobile at that time and had no problem just hanging out in the stroller watching us all work.

Owen and Mimi planting some of the plants she brought from her own garden. This is the raised bed that Mike and Bruce made. Next year we are going to put in another one right next to it so that the entire length of the garage wall is vegetable garden. Mimi brought us some herbs and some tomato plants that Great Grammy Helen had started from seedling.

Owen took this picture of me. He loves taking pictures just like me.

I donated to Arbor Day this year, so they sent me ten baby trees of various kinds. When I say baby trees, I mean a little stick that you can barely see. The boys planted them in this wooded area until they grow bigger and we decide where we want them to go.

This is Clyde, Mimi and Grumpa's new dog. They got him after Rocky passed away. We will miss Rocky, but Clyde is adorable.

Here are some pics of the garden now. We have four different tomato plants, plus cherry and grape tomatoes, basil, parsley, oregano, chives, another onion plant, cucumbers, yellow bell peppers, and two different types of Italian peppers.

Thank you Mimi and Grumpa for passing on this incredible skill. We are already enjoying the "fruits" of our labour and can't wait to learn even more.
