Owen's Big Boy Room

We moved Owen into his "big boy" room at the beginning of the summer, but I am just now getting around to taking pictures of it and putting it on the blog, oops. When Mike and I talked about how to decorate Owen's room it was obvious that Mike was living vicariously through him, so Celtics it had to be! Actually we had a nice collection of vintage Celtics photographs and recent ones too that we couldn't place anywhere else in the house and thus became the inspiration for the room, down to the paint. I painted the room a very light gray with an accent wall of kelly green. Then I painted two kelly green stripes around the top of the three gray walls. In the corner I painted them in a V to mimic the stripes on the Celtics players' shorts. I have to admit I am very happy with how it turned out.

I also refinished this dresser, which was Aunt Kika's when she was a baby. Originally it was a yellowish white with gold trim and gold handles. After Mike sanded it for me, I painted it bright white, added kelly green trim, and filled the holes from the handles to put pulls instead. The fabric Celtics wall hanging and basketball lamp are from Mike's room when he was little.

Here is a close-up of the antique green glass pulls I found.

{A close-up of my stripes.}

{This is a collage I made of tickets from this past year, as well as a shirt we had autographed and pictures of Owen from his first Celtic's game in Chicago. That was a fun memory having the different players and Coach Doc hold Owen for pictures.}

The inspirational photography collection.

These are house numbers that I collected to be big "O"s.

While I was painting Owen's room he got into the paint and started putting handprints on one of the white walls that I hadn't yet painted. I thought it was cute and decided to incorporate it into the room. So I helped him put this one on the green wall.
Next I promise to put pics of the nursery... I just don't promise when that will be!

Short Visit with Uncle Timmy

Last week Uncle Timmy came for a short visit so we went up to the Willards to spend the night and hang out. We really wish he lived closer. Owen loves playing with him and we all miss him already.

Owen loves going for walks on the property. Here we are going around a pond that Bruce dug out himself and filled with water from the apple orchard. Owen is off in the distance ahead of us yelling, "Let's go on an adventure!" Now everything is an "adventure"!

Taking a break on Uncle Timmy's shoulders.

First Day of School

Every year we take a picture of Mike the first day of school. This is a tradition we started when we first got Diesel. It has been fun to see how both Mike and Diesel have changed from year to year, and then Owen has been added making the tradition even more meaningful. This year is special because it is the first time we are taking it in front of our house. It is also special because tomorrow is Mike's birthday.

For Mike's birthday we got a new basketball hoop. We normally wouldn't be able to afford this monstrous basketball hoop, but his school moved and they were getting rid of it. Mike was very happy to take it off of their hands!

You should have seen all the neighbors out yesterday as the boys erected the pole and hung the back-board. They were already wondering what was going on when Mike dug a huge hole in our yard and filled a trash barrel with cement last week. Oh boy!
Happy birthday Baby, we love you!!!!
