Halloween Festivities

Aunt Kika made Owen a Halloween T-Shirt that he was very excited about. Here he is showing off his shirt and his bat that he made with his nanny Amanda. By the way, that is suppose to be his "bat" face.

His scary face above and an extreme cheese below...

Yesterday the park by our house had a Halloween Festival so we joined some friends to play. Owen wore his fireman outfit that Nanna bought him, although a little too big, he loves it!!!! We had a lot of fun watching all the kids play in their costumes, play halloween games, carve pumpkins, and dance to the dj. {By the way, I won a container full of candy corn by guessing how much was in it, 1,100 pieces! Anyone want some?!}

Pretending to slide down the pole like a fireman.

Tat, baby Lilly (who is walking now), and her mom Penelope.

The back of her skunk outfit says Little Stinker. Too cute!

Owen and Riley love this part of the playground. Every time I watch Owen climbing on it I am amazed at how easily and quickly he does it.

Baby Keller wanted so badly to climb up there too.

If you haven't heard, my wonderful husband fractured his heel bone this past Thursday night playing in his basketball league. He is getting a hard cast on tomorrow that will probably be on for the next 6-8 weeks. Did I mention that I am having a baby in 3-4 weeks?! Obviously the worst timing ever, but I do feel bad for him and pray that his recovery is quicker than they think; for all our sakes. Here he is chillin' on his cruches with Willy D.

Below is the spider pumpkin I carved. (I don't know why the picture is showing up sideways, but I can't fix it. It is normal on my desktop and then downloads to blogspot like this... spooky.)

I Love My Husband!

I just wanted to share with everyone the extremely thoughtful gift that Mike got me for my birthday this past Saturday. We had both planned on being in Chicago for my birthday because Mike was in Matt Greiner's wedding, however I am too far along in my pregnancy to travel so he had to go without me. Because he loves me so much he spent his first day in Chicago running around getting my gift ready to be sent overnight. So around noon on Saturday FedEx dropped off stuffed cheese pizza from Calo and mozzerella sticks from Leona's in a special box with dry ice. It was awesome!!!! Thank you baby, I love you!

Sewing Project #1

I was inspired by a cloth block that I found at my parents' house that my Grandma Betty Lou had made, and I wanted to make something special for Keira Lawler when she was born, so I gave it a try. Here is the finished product...

Her initials, K and L are on two sides.

The number 27, for the day she was born, is on top.

Then the other sides all have things that start with the letter K.
Kangaroo

Kids

Kite

It was definitely another project made with love, kind of like my "pretty cakes", but I am still happy with how it turned out. And my sewing skills can only get better with practice!

You won what?!

I forgot to post about the first Celtic's game of the season that we went to, which happens to have a very funny story behind it. Two weeks ago Mike called into a radio station on his way to work that was giving away Celtic's tickets for a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Providence at the Dunkin Donuts Center. They were excepting the first two callers to compete in a trivia game and he was caller #2 ! After going back and forth with the woman who was caller #1, (first he was ahead, then she was, and then they were tied for awhile), Mike suggested that they split the four tickets and she accepted. This was actually a good thing, because she was ahead at the time. So Mike and I went to the game and had a great time. The seats were really close too.

This one shows you how close the seats were.

I took this picture the other day when Riley came over to play. The boys are standing at the end of the path that goes to the pond in our backyard. I love the color of the trees changing.

Gigi

Mike's grandma Louise {Gigi}, passed away this weekend. It was a blessing as she was in a lot of pain in her final days. We thank God for her life and pray for her now that she is at peace. We were lucky to be here this past year to spend time with her and for her to enjoy Owen as she did so much. She will be missed.

Apple Pickin' at the Willard's

The past month we have been going up to the Willards' on the weekend as much as possible to spend time with them and with Gigi. Two weekends in a row we went apple picking on the property. Owen loves running up and down the aisles of the orchard and of course riding in Grumpa's tractor. I enjoyed helping Angela make apple sauce and grape jelly from some vines that Bruce found this year tucked away. The Greenes also came up for an afternoon to join in the Autumn festivities and a turkey dinner.
I love everything about this time of year from the scenic drive up filled with beatiful changing trees, to the food, and the crisp fresh air!

Owen also loves driving his own tractor! These pics are from the first weekend. It was a little warmer that afternoon so he wanted to take off his pants. We are potty training and he is proud to show off his big boy undies. I thought it was so cute that he was riding around in his fireman t-shirt, big boy undies, and frog boots! You gotta love being 2 1/2!

These pics are from the next weekend...

Going on another adventure with Daddy. I think Owen would spend all day exploring the woods if we let him. I couldn't believe how well he was climbing the big rock wall and then the wood pile too.

Auntie and Uncle stopped by after they had picked some apples in the orchard. The three of us all had on brown jump suits, which was too funny not to take a picture of.

Below is the pond that Bruce dug out himself and then filled with water coming down from the orchard. Isn't it amazing?! In the summer it is filled with beautiful, bright pond lillies.

Another amazing project Bruce has been working on is Owen's tree house. This of course deserves its own post. I was going to wait until it was totally finished to even give a sneak preview, but I thought this picture of Owen walking up to it was too cute. And then I took a picture of the boys up there that I also had to share. {Wait until you see the detailed pics of the tree house when it's finished. It truely is a livable structure and I am so impressed with it.}

On our way to pick some apples...

Boston Museum of Science

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Boston Museum of Science. Mike was given a free all access pass to the museum for himself and three others in recognition of teachers. So Mimi and Grumpa joined us for a fun day out. It was great. Owen loved running around from one exhibit to the next. He also saw his first movie, which was 3D, even though he wouldn't wear the glasses.
We started off in the discovery zone, which was very difficult to get Owen to leave.

I have to point out the tool belt!

{Yes, that's me in all my full body glory! Can you believe I'm not as big as I was with Owen?!}

Two seconds into our walk to the car Owen fell asleep; a fitting ending for our busy little boy.
