On September 30th, my dear friend, mentor, and president of my V-Day board, Nancy Rafi, was awarded a
Women of Achievement Award from the YWCA of Northern Rhode Island. If you faithfully follow this blog, you are no stranger to the amazing work Nancy is responsible for. It isn't just the crazy events she gets me involved with, and my family sometimes too, but it is the work that gets done as a result of these events and all of her hard work and dedication that is so impressive. I was honored to be a guest at her table for the award luncheon. Thank you Nancy, for everything.

Nancy and Kim Baker; Kim, a fellow V-Day board member, nominated Nancy for this award.

In a newspaper article about the award Nancy says, "The best advice I can give any woman is to love yourself as much as you love the other women in your life - your mother, sister, aunt or daughter. Wish for yourself all of the wonderful things that you wish for them, because you too deserve to live a happy, healthy and violence free life."
